Chris and I really enjoyed a rare duo gig at the New Hampton in Wolverhampton. It really was non-stop fun and the audience played a big part in that - thanks Dave, Dianne and all.
And we had a great time at Moor and Coast Festival in Whitby - first sound crew job of the year.

The main event of my summer 2007 was the release by Rocking Chair Music of my Celtic Session Guitar Accompaniment DVD.
Just before my move down to the south of England last summer, Chris Parkinson and I spent a strenuous but rewarding day recording this DVD, with Tom Bliss at the cameras. Then last August, I had another couple of intensive days editing and mastering with Ewan MacGregor (no, not that one) at Temple Records in Scotland. This year, the resulting DVD was taken up by Steve and Joe Heap at Rocking Chair Records. They did a great job manufacturing, marketing and selling the product - I couldn't have done it without all those people. Any musicians reading this - making an audio CD is a walk in the park compared to doing a tutor DVD! Here's the best kind of review - an unsolicited e-mail from the heart of Gaeldom:

Regular readers will know that summertime is my busy festival time and this year was no exception. Folk festivals in the UK just seem to get more and more popular, whilst folk clubs struggle and arts centre venues prosper. Changing times in the folk world - but what cannot be denied is that the profile of folk music hasn't been any higher since the folk-rock boom of the early seventies.
What all this means for me personally is fewer and fewer performance gigs. When I left Battlefield Band ten years ago, I had had my fill of heavy-duty touring, big festivals and theatre venues. I was looking forward to some relaxed gigging in friendly UK folk clubs. Unfortunately this is the very section of the folk world which is struggling - so my gigging as a performer becomes more and more rare.
But the festival boom has meant lots more jobs for me as a live sound engineer, and for this activity I have to say a big thank you to Graham Bradshaw of CV Audio and Roots Records. This year found me behind the mixing desk at Whitby Moor & Coast, Middlewich, Ely, Warwick, Shrewsbury, and Bromyard Festivals. At Ely, my stage's events closed at 6 on the Sunday evening, giving me just enough time to get to my main stage performance with Chris Parkinson - we had a ball!
I've also got a regular part-time management job at the New Park Centre in Chichester - it's a multi-purpose Arts and Community Centre with a very popular cinema. No two days are the same there!
And after over a year living down here, my recording studio is starting to attract some local talent - Steve Donnelly, Will Cahill and Tamara - all the way from Russia! Looking forward to sessions coming up with Tina Taylor and Mist on the Bog. And of course , the "Mally Marathon" continues - we're well on the way to getting ALL the tunes from ALL of Mally's books recorded - go to his website to buy the many CDs we've recorded together. So, here we are at the start of the winter; life gets a little less hectic and hence I have time to do this update. Looking forward to keeping in touch with you all and seeing you around the festivals next summer!
